Hunting with a Desert Tech SRS A-1

Hey... need some advice from people with much more experience and know how than me.
I have a Desert Tech SRS A-1 that I want to use for hunting elk. Using a 26” .300 WM barrel, the rifle weighs about 16 pounds with the scope.
I’m curios about the Proof DT barrels and want one in 22.5”. I’ll be attaching a TBAC 338 Ultra to it. The 22.5” will clear the hand guard and along with the TBAC suppressor, the length will be manageable.
Any idea if the Proof barrel will be much lighter? I’m wondering what the weight difference will be. Also, what twist rate should I order? I’d be using Hornady Precision Hunter Ammunition 300 Winchester Magnum 200 Grain ELD-X. I can’t make my own stuff just yet so I’m using factory ammo.
Any input would be much appreciated.
Also, I took down a bull at 590+ yards with the DT and the 26” .300 WM barrel And the same ammo a couple years back. Using the 26” is doable but boy was it a pain to lug it around.

Thanks.

Says it will be around 4.25lbs before extension. I'd call ES tactical and see what a light hunter profile barrel will weigh.
And if you havent, remove the monopod to save an easy pound.

Had an A1 and put it on a diet with a 16” barrel, heavy fluting on the barrel and shank, lost the mono pod and still only got it down to to 13.5 lbs with MK5 3-18. Still a heavy bitch to haul around. Sold it and built a light weight rig.

I hunted deer and boar with a Gen 1 SRS using 16-20” medium contour barrels. It’s doable but not ideal because of the weight.
