Despite the reality and story line, I personally think this movie made us civilians aware and pay more respect to bomb disposal experts in our army. Most people (civilians) hardly ever realize there are groups of specialists in service to protect other soldiers from bomb attacks.

Again, I am not a soldier, so your thoughts may very.

Personally I thought it was extremely unrealistic and mediocre overall.

That kind of shit happens when folks write a fictionalized account of real experiences. Eventually someone goes "ah crap, they already made MY story...guess I'll sue them because now I can't make my own movie or book."

And yes, I'm completely surprised that "Hurt Locker" got so many nominations. Many of the folks I've talked to seem to think that this movie "got it right" when in fact they got a lot of BIG things wrong for every little thing they got right. So basically, it's made many non-serving folks "feel" like it's accurate when in fact it's not. Never mind the fact that there's hardly a story - it's really just a bunch of loosely strung together thriller vignettes.

Horrible movie! I love the part when he ventures out with nothing but a sidearm and himself.... He would've made the 10 o'clock news getting be headed. ALL BULLSHIT!

But I give props to all EOD. Tough job to say the least.
