The Shreveport Mudbugs Hockey, our local Junior League (NHAL), has been chosen as one of four finalist, out of all the teams in North America, to win the Kraft Hockeyville, USA, an honor that provides the winner with $150,000 for facilities upgrades.

Our facility, the Hirsch Colosseum, is a landmark in Shreveport, but it's old and in disrepair, mainly the roof and ceiling. This money would go a long way in getting the building back in decent shape, and a place that we can be proud of again.

The ice rink is called Georges Pond, named after George Cloutier (pronounced cloocher), a 12 year old boy who was an avid Mudbugs and hockey fan.

Here is a short story of George Cloutier and George's Pond. http://www.ksla.com/story/30564620/...y-of-local-boy-with-talent-passion-for-hockey
In addition to $150,000, the winner will host an NHL preseason game next fall.

THAT would be just about as awesome as it gets. I'm hoping it's The Predators, and they bring the Stanley Cup to Shreveport after they win it this year.

The favor I have to ask, is if you would go to https://www.krafthockeyville.com/, watch the story, and vote for Shreveport Mudbugs. Get as many friends, family, strangers on the street corner, as you can, to go and vote for the Shreveport Mudbugs. Post it on your Facebook and any other social media. The voting opens up tonight at 11:00 PM CDT, and goes though 10:00 AM Saturday morning. Voting is unlimited, so please vote as many times as you can. The winner will be announced during one of the NHL playoff games on Saturday. I'm not sure which one. If I find out, I will post it here.

We have the whole hockey community down here that's really going to be working hard to make this happen.
    Thanks for all the help.

    Great! Thank you Mike!
I'm at about 400 votes so far. My goal is at least 1000. :D
Mudbugs hockey and George's Pond is really a bright spot in our town that has almost nothing to do that's family oriented. They have adult and kids hockey leagues. They host a nearby college's hockey team. They have figure skating. Public skates. Skating with the players after games. They even have curling. It is a terrific program, and I'm going to do everything I can do to make sure they stay successful.
    Thanks again Mike.

I am a huge supporter of youth Hockey. My kids both played, my daughter met her husband while playing on boy's teams and two of my grandkids have played since they were big enough to get on the ice. My oldest grandson is 9 and was on the junior Stingrays travel team this year, where they made it through to the final tier of the playoffs in D.C. They fought to a tie in their final game, but were bumped from the final due to their win-loss record.

Each of them has been able to be on the ice for the National Anthem before a Stingray game. In short, it's good for the kids and also creates memories they keep for their lives.

I'll go check it out and vote for your Mudbugs.

    Great! Thanks Lash.
These boys on our Mudbugs team, are just like the boys that were killed up in Canada last week...16-21 years old. They're kids, but they work really hard and they put on some great games.
20 years ago, if you'd asked me about hockey, I'd said "WTF?!"
Now, i'm sad because the season is drawing to a close.
Can't wait till next September. :D

Voted for your Mudbugs, I wish them the best and am glad that there are chances like this to provide better options for the young hockey players out there.

Thank you guys for the help, unfortunately, the announcement was made during the first intermission of the Preds/Avalanche game, that Clinton Arena in New York won Hockeyville 2018. ☹️
    Again, thanks for the support.
