I just can't understand some laws,

Re: I just can't understand some laws,

The landlords like that law they make a lot of money and dont have to keep up the properties because they know that the bank will get the properties.

Re: I just can't understand some laws,

HOAs suck. The neighborhood I was renting in had the HOA NAZIs. They would fine you if you left you garbage can out an extra day. I heard, remember this is second hand, that a NG Army Sgt. had his home foreclosed on him when he was in Iraq. They kick his family to the curb. It's important to understand what your are getting into with an HOA. That's why I purchased a home out in the country, with no HOA.

Back during the boom, I used to go to my oldest daughter's cross country meets and then do the outlandish act of actually watching her run! It was either that or listen to the nearly incessant prattling of so many of the other parents about their "builder"...And then there was the absurd notion of how this or that home improvement was an "Investment". And if I heard one asswipe talk about the importance of his property value, I heard hundreds!

The last thing I wanted any of these people (Except the perhaps MILFier moms!

) to know was that I was in construction!

I've been in the trades for over thirty years. While I framed, trimmed and then ran the construction (As a general superintendent)of hundreds of homes over the years, I held those who went out of their way to buy them in deed restricted communities in the lowest regard.

IMO, the HOA regs come back to bite these people in the ass as much as they do to keep junk cars from piling up in their neighbor's yards.

I think this story tells us as much about the effect of having millions of lawyers in a society where most of the great civil wrongs were long ago righted. Thus cynical new avenues of remunerative growth are exploited at the margins where inconvenience and hurt feelings become conflated to grievous injury for the good of the lawsuit industry.

Re: I just can't understand some laws,

QQ, very clear and concise sentiments towards the subject. Thanks for that. And no, I obviously don't 'hold you responsible' as has been alluded to.

The point of contention that I was making, is what is making people go 'this way' compared with society about 30 years ago.

This continuous 'downward spiral' is beginning to pick up momentum. Or at least, that is how it is appearing through media and other communication venue's. It don't look good on SO MANY fronts.

Or am I just being too negative?

Agreed, and I will NEVER live where a HOA is established.

Re: I just can't understand some laws,

When I was in highschool we lived in a neighborhood with a HOA. It wasn't anything as bad as that, but it was a headache for my parents. For some reason the neighbors got upset about me cleaning fish in the driveway or coming home in a loud muddy 4x4 at 2am

. To hell with 'em. Damn city people.

Re: I just can't understand some laws,

I hate those associations with a passion. There is a reason they are called homeowners associations, because the HOMeOwners ASSociation that is in charge of the thing is susally some overweight fucktard that wants to control everyone in the neighborhood. The really should either be outlawed, or banned, but either way, totally removed from our society because they do nothing more than add irritant to what can be good neighborhoods otherwise.
If the land is bought, being paid for, and has a home o it, the owner owns all of that, screw the mfr and his HOMO ASS bullshit.
OR if you like, Well dip shit, YOU bought into it, suck it up or sell if you don't like the hole ya dug yourself. People keep paying these asshats and buying into their BS. SO much for educated common sense...
