I have a custom fixed-blade knife that needs a sheath. I used Google to find Patriot Leather but that turned into a bad experience. Does anyone have any good suggestions for a sheath maker that you've used? I'm looking for a nice leather one to cover the grips as well as the blade.

Good call to go on a blade forum. You might also look for a good leather-smith in your area.I don't know if there is any Tandy leather stores around anymore but years ago i use to go there for leather goods and info about leather.

I appreciate the link and have investigated. Does anyone here have positive experience with any sheath maker? You guys are my peeps and I trust your recommendations.

If you have IG, check out War Machine Leather Works.

That’s me. I have quite a bit of my work posted up there.

Heres a picture of a Sketchbook I drew up and tooled for my daughter.

Here is the knife. 8 inches overall. 4 inch full tang Damascus blade, African ironwood handle. Want a flap sheath to cover handle I think anyway.

That’s a nice knife! You know, if you go with a sheath like the ones I posted above, run it within an inch of the end of the handle and wet form the leather to the knife, you wouldn’t need the flap. Unless of course you really want the flap.

Have you put in any thought on how you want to wear it? Vertical, 45deg slant or horizontal with the belt?

There is some beautiful work posted here. I think I will carry it in or lashed to my pack while hunting and don't want it banged up.

Hogslife,
I have been making my own knife sheaths and holsters for nearly 20 years, and your work is absolutely gorgeous. Well done.

I appreciate that man!. Thank you very much!
