Just started working as a Detention Officer for the local Sheriffs office. Been working for TDCJ but decided a change was necessary. Anyway we couldn't use our own handcuff key with TDCJ but now that I work for the county we can use our own. I'm needing one that works good with a restraint chair also. Can't seem to find anything good with a google search.
I need a good handcuff key.

The Pen Cuff Key is nice because it's long and you can keep it in your pen pocket for easy access.
Use your small keys that come with the handcuffs to hide on your uniform for a spare or in case you find yourself handcuffed.

oh ok, i was just thinking he accidently handcuffed himself and needed a key, Thank god it was for his job.

Really? You work in a jail, FULL of jailers who use cuffs, daisy chains etc etc all day you have to go to the internet for a recommendation on cuff keys of all things? WOW!
For what it's worth, I've been using cuffs for a very long time and the keys the come with the handcuffs have always worked just fine.

It's a small jail, and I have more correctional experience than most of my co-workers. (Going from a facility that housed 1500 inmates to one that houses 50) This is my first time using a restraint chair also. Some of the guys have cuff keys like I'm looking for, but don't know who makes them. They were issued awhile back, but thanks to cuts I don't think I will be issued one so I'm buying my own. I did a lot of transports in the past, mostly of the mhmr type (suicide attempts and generally twisted off people) so I know how to use all of the other types of restraints. This chair is new thing for me however and I'm trying to be as prepared as possible.

Shoot, just get a key and kiester stash that puppy for 'just in case'! I mean afterall ya never know when the new guy is gonna get handled by the inmates

Don't get a pen key, the plastic shroud is to close to the key head and it doesn't work with the restraint chairs. This does also depend on the style of restraint chairs your facility uses. I'm referring to the chairs that you push your key into a small hole to release tension on the straps....
