So I have a boot knife that I absolutely love and it's just the perfect knife for me. But the problem is it's illegal in TN to carry a knife over 3in and its also a double hedged blade so I don't know how the legality goes in that aspect of it. But I've searched around and no one seems to know, but can I get some kind of permit to carry a knife about 4in?

Yes... that's cute "google is your friend". Lets just get rid of the forums then so no one is aloud to ask questions about anything. I don't mean to be rude but that wasn't exactly a very nice move you pulled there. I already stated I had searched and found nothing. I never ask a question on here unless I can't find it myself. Thanks for the link but I didn't find anything in there that answered my question. So if anyone else knows please inform me if you dont mind. Thanks

I really appreciate it.

First I would say that you should find your respective township's website. Most of the time information about any laws would be posted up there. If your Sheriff's department has jurisdiction then it would be best to check their website(if they have one), really it's whomever has jurisdiction where you live.

Check local, state laws, in that order concerning this.

Scroll down on the google link to section 39-17-1307a. I am not a leagal eagle, but I believe that it states that the blade cannot be over 4". Hope this helps! If not give the state police a call.

CCW is a general term referring to concealed carry, usually handguns. Additionally, Tennessee doesn't issue a blanket permit. They issue a handgun carry permit. NOT the same thing.

To the OP,

I'd check you local city ordinances, then check your county ordinances, then your state ordinances. Don't bother asking the cops, ask the prosecutor's office. They'll have a better idea in my experience. Not to bad mouth cops, but many times, they don't necessarily know all the laws. They are not attorneys.

BTW, 'Aloud' is an adverb which means using a normal tone and volume of the speaking voice. 'Allowed' means permitted.

In New Mexico the card reads "Concealed Handgun License".
