ID this tool, east Texas, carpentry related.

Visiting some family in east Texas, near Jasper. This family goes way back. The house and barn are at least 120 years old, and built from trees on the property. The owner of this tool thinks it for measuring lumber possible. Calculating board
feet or something.

The markings/numbers are in pencil, and the end opposite the metal end is fashioned into a handle. The holes are from bugs.

At first glance it resembles a pickaroon, used for picking up split firewood or small logs. However, given the light design, there's no way it would stand up to picking up wood. It is likely a Lumber Rule used for, as the owner speculated, measuring boatd feet. 1 bf = 144 cubic inches.
