I am going to run a small comp for several people shortly and want some ideas what I could include to make the comp a little more interesting rather than lay down shoot from position a then same at position B.
We will 8 stations that we can play with -340y out to 860y

Re: ideas for a comp

Oh just use your imagination lol me and my mates do things like

1 firing drills where we all try and time our shots at the same time on the same target if you havnt had military training its not as easy as it sounds or to try and hit say 8 targets at the same time under a certain time limit

2 ad challenges like a 200m sprint towards your rifle do some pushups before firing on targets

3 cycle all of us through one rifle in exact equal conditions to up the ante on competition

4 use targets like water balloon old computers or even a beer carton filled with rocks or a cheap carton of eggs are always fun

5 if you all reload get some plastic bottles filled with water and test the hitting power of your hunting loads

6 snap target competition

Just some ideas thats what me and my mates do when we target shot at my range

Movers
Shooting from a helicopter!
A "mad minute"
A "know your limit" event
Stage where shooter can't get line-of-sight on target, so spotter has to "walk the shooter in"
Loopholes
Positional shooting

Re: ideas for a comp

Just a couple ideas from some similar stages in recent matches in Washington and Wyoming:

One stage: 5 targets, unknown distance, not visible from other than shooting location. Laser allowed. Shooter arriving at shooting location has x minutes to locate, range and engage targets. Full points for a first round hit, 1/2 points available for a second round hit. No third shot. Second shot at a given target only available if first is a miss. Second shot, if taken, at a given target must immediately follow first shot at that target.10 shots total possible.

Another stage: 5 targets, all unknown distance. No laser allowed. Shooter arriving at shooting location has x*2 minutes to range and engage targets. Target sizes given to shooter in briefing. Same rules above.

Another stage: 2 targets, 2 moa each at appx 500 yards. Target A obscured but 5 feet below a visible marker/aiming point. Target B obscured but 5 feet below the visible marker/aiming point and 5 feet right or left of target A. 3 shots at target A and 3 shots at target B may be taken. RO may offer spotter assistance.

Cold Bore Stage: 340 yards. 2 moa target. Full points hit in 1 moa section. 1/2 points for hit in outer 2 moa section.

Just some thoughts.

Good luck!
