Ideas on how to force my HOA to act on a violation

Hey guys, I've got a new neighbor who parked a huge trailer in between our houses which is in clear violation of two of the covenants. I have called the association and they drove by and took pictures but said that he said that he was doing construction which he isn't and even if he were the trailer in between our houses would still be in violation. So what can I do -outside of digging a few holes- to get the association to act?

P.S. The day he moved in he told me his plans for his trailer and I told him I wasn't a big fan of that. I've talked to him about it countless times already.

Any idea would be appreciated.

How about you be a man and you go over there and talk to him? Got a problem with something someone is doing? TALK TO THEM. How about that unconventional approach? Maybe you'll make a new friend or maybe he'll smack you around a bit.

I just don't understand the mindset of always wanting to involve a 3rd party. Solve these issues at the lowest level, between you and him.

Hitch it up to your truck and tow the sumbitch outta there. Park it down the street. Maybe he'll get the hint. But I agree with 1812, just go talk to the guy, you might be surprised. He might be like me and have no idea that someone would care about that sort of thing.

Talk first (1812), then what Yeti said. If that doesn't work, move (Outsy). If you do end up moving, come back and pull a MedicGordo with a fresh one! Good ideas guys.

Tried that. The day he moved in he told me his plans for his trailer and I told him I wasn't a big fan of that. I've talked to him about it countless times already. I wouldn't have posted on here if I hadn't have hit a brick wall.

You need to get your other neighbors to sign a petition saying they aren't down with his trailer and send it to the president of the HOA. If they don't do anything quit paying your dues. Or sack up and take Yeti's advise

There was also a time when people had sense enough not to drag down the property value of the neighborhood by parking a trailer where it clearly should not be. Everyone agreed to the HOA guidelines when they purchased the house in the HOA controlled neighborhood.

Exactly.

I've been on the receiving end of this HOA bullfuck myself. I put up a vinyl fence that was approved by the HOA and met the exact dimensions and appearance of all the others in the complex. 3 years later they try to assess fines on me and order it taken down. They pull this while I'm a reservist called to active duty and nowhere near the place to defend myself.

Am I worried about it? Not in the slightest. I'll deal with it when I get around to it, but seriously, fuck HOAs.

So you talked to the cat and it didn't work. Time to move to phase two, but out of curiosity, what exactly is your beef with the trailer? Is it just hideous? Does it block your view of his wife in the shower? Is it causing some other inconvenience? I'm sure you've got your reasons but telling us might help drive the tactics a bit.

Some people bitch because it is all they have to sustain them. Strength of character is ever illusive to the perpetual victim.
