I can only pray that this bill passes. maybe then the rest of the country will have a chance to see what happens before we submit everyone to such foolishness.

Then again, no one seems to learn anything from the douchebaggery going on in California, so it probably doesn't matter.

I would assume this is the political machine's last hail marry after the upper courts ruled the state has to allow conceal carry. After the courts decision was passed down the butt hurt ones tried to do some wheeling and dealing but the pro 2a folks pretty much told them to pack sand.

If this bill passes there will be lives lost from the state police and the law abiding citizens of Illinois. People are not going to just give up their guns without a fight. I for one do not plan on giving any of my guns to anyone other than my children. What idiot thinks that this will stop criminals/insane people from committing crimes or other terrible acts of violence. If my guns were taken from me and I had to defend myself or my family and all I had was an axe or a chainsaw what would they think then. Would they limit the axe handle's to a certain length or say that a chainsaw could only have a 16in bar?

If they really wanted to save lives, they would outlaw private ownership of motor vehicles, and alcoholic beverages. Then we could seriously reduce alcohol related motor vehicle deaths.

Oh, yeah, they tried prohibition, and it didn't work. I wonder why they figure a firearms prohibition will work any better now than the alcohol prohibition did back then? Then again, if prohibitions were effective, the one that says you aren't supposed to murder people would have already solved the problem.

I'll quit, I realize I'm preaching to the choir.

When Prohibition reigned, it was Chicago that hosted the grand finals. How apt that they have placed their hats in the ring for a rematch.

When we left Saddam alone after Desert Storm, it took a rematch to clean the proper clocks. How does history actually repeat itself, anyway...?

I don't feel sorry for them one bit. "These are the times that try mens' souls." You are either with us or against us. There is no "Well we're just doing our job" shit with this. There shouldn't be any place in a LEO's mind that justifies this as standard operating procedure.

What I don't understand if one bill bans and confiscation of all semi-auto weapons, why a second bill to limit mags to 10rd capacity. I wouldn't think there would be any guns left to put the mags in?

The magazine capacity is for the ones that do not turn in the guns....the criminals. Like that is going to happen.

They're hoping to get the magazine bill through. I think that the two of them together is simply a case of slinging as much crud against the wall as possible and hoping that some of it sticks.

I think of it as the epoxy approach, each part is nasty but when combined its some sticky shit.

This, on our Government's part, isn't a knee-jerk reaction. It's a calculated move seizing on a tragedy to force through legislation that they support.
