why do some scopes have them and some dont? why do lower end scopes typically not have lit reticules? is it cost? reliability? moving parts? im about the order a 4-14 falcon and its not lit and im wondering if im going to be wishing it was if i ever try to do any night shooting

Re: illumiated reticules

Illumination is almost a must-have at night....as long as the illumination is not too bright.....some are better than others.

Re: illumiated reticules

i shoot with my NF at night, but im not really wanting to switch scopes around

Re: illumiated reticules

Depends. The cheapest scope I currently have has an illuminated reticle. The one on my duty rifle does not.

The SN-3 I ordered does.

For me, it's insurance. I don't want a situation where I can ID the target but not pickup the reticle. I can't imagine many times this will happen, but on a FFP scope it's more important. That reticle gets real fine at lower power at night.
