Im looking for a 30 cal target bullet

are you looking for small groups at 100 or steel at 1000 ? we have been using cheep 150 gr plinking ammo to shoot or try to shoot 1' circle stickers at 100 -300 and anything further using 168 smk for out to 600 which is as far as i can shoot till i find a longer range . but the 150 works nice on steel at 600 and is cheaper much cheaper .

I was looking to go out to 800 to 1000 yards but i will give them a try

175 SMKs “work” in my 24” and 18” 1-12 twist rifles. The 24” will consistently shoot a 1” 5 shot group at 300. The 18” is just under 2” at 300. The 24” prefers 168 SMK (it was cut for them back in the day). The 18” likes 150 BT Nosler’s the best. 1-12 can effectively handle 175 SMKs. I don’t believe they are the optimal choice, but they are certainly up to the task.

Side note: my 1-10s and 1-8 like everything equally. Just a matter of powder choice and charge weight. Hope this helps.

You will be best served by some of the 175-178 gr match bullets. Most of the older 168 gr bullets have trouble in the transonic region. The 178 amax that was mentioned earlier is no longer made. With 26” barrel you should have no problems. Some of the newer 178 and heaver bullet designs (i.e. VLD, ELD-M) may not stabilize in the 1 in 12 twist. Check the required twist before you purchase.

Will 175g work in a 12" twist barrel i was thinking that might be to heavy?

That shouldn't be any problem at all, I ran everything from 130tsx up the 190smk and 190 custom comps out of my 1-12 barrel.
Even tried the 190 custom comps at an endemic velocity in the 2280-2350 range and they were all under MOA.
The 178 is what I settled on due to better ballistics and performance on game with excellent accuracy.
The 168 AMAX and 168smk had the best accuracy in my barrel but only a slight improvement over the 178.
