photo83132.jpgphoto83133.jpg Got set up to shoot 300 yards this afternoon.
She sent a few down range with her 300 BO.
When it was my turn, I broke out my old 6BR and shot a few. The wind and mirage were kinda shitty and it showed on my target.
I asked Rebecca if she wanted to have a go at it and this is what she did.

If she's gonna show me up, I just don't know if I can take her again.

    300 yards, really??

BTW, she said I have to take her more often.

Story of my life, except our "common hobby" where she waxes my ass is salmon fishing. Oh, I still get to rig, set, monitor, be the alarm, gut and clean the fish. Technically, I am the better fisherman, but that means nothing to a woman with luck on her side (constantly.....). Sigh.........

Does she remove all the hair or j7st do your bikini line ?

Mike: The first (and one of the best) leadership lessons I was taught when I started leading people and not being just a worker bee... was that you have to start regarding the wins of your team members as your wins. The better your team does, the more satisfaction you should feel.

She wouldn't be shooting like that if you hadn't taught her right. The better she gets, the better you've done! On many, many levels. And based on your post above... you get that 100 percent!

Nice shooting there, Tex! Well, Mrs. Tex.

    Thanks for posting, MIke!

    Cheers,

^^^ Having done a lot of instructing over the years.... my hypothesis is this: Every guy thinks they know how to shoot because they watched a lot of John Wayne and Chuck Norris movies So when you are 'instructing' them, the advice and tips and techniques went in one ear and out the other. Women actually listen to the instructions, absorb everything and start with good technique.

Not scientific... but it echoes Myronman's point to a T!

You should take her out to an informal benchrest match sometime just for fun.

x2 .. Benchrest may not be all tacticool but you'll link up with some great folks(and quite possibly some awesome 'smiths who will do barrel work for awesome low prices) and JMO but considering BR uses windflags....shooting over wind flags for a beginner shooter should be a great aid/starting point to prepare them for later/longer distances to visualize what the winds doing after seeing it/experiencing it firsthand with wind flags. And I doubt you'll find a more knowledgeable group than BR shooters as a whole.

TacPro out in Mingus used to run a 400 yard informal benchrest match once a year, it's a shame they don't do it any more.
It was a great match to go to, as everybody was competing against themselves and testing out their new gear. It was a very friendly atmosphere and everybody would be swapping stories, tips and new gear ideas between sets, just hanging out and having a great time.

It was an interesting setup as you had 10 minutes each run to shoot but only 10 rounds allowed and lots of wind and targets of different sizes with different point values.
I used to have fun showing up as one of the few folks in the dirt, shooting a .308 and still managing to come in about halfway up the score board.

Those kind of matches are great for shooters who don't want all the high pressure of some other matches, as it's a very friendly welcoming type event and you learn a lot about how you are running your equipment and reading the wind.

I used to shoot Benchrest before I retired from the AF. Loved it, but having my kids pretty much put a stop to it. Stayed closer to home and shot prairie dogs, ground squirrels and rockchucks because I could do it closer and usually be home the same day.

it is my theory as well. you do not have to fight their ego in order to teach them.

My wife did two things that caused me to know she was a keeper:

    1) She sat down on my couch, grabbed the 5 remotes and got the stereo working. (This was before the logitec Harmony existed...)

    2) I took her to the range and gave her my hardball gun, a 1911, and she cut out the center of the target.

    Keeper!

Agreed. Woman are much easier to teach than men. Hands down. American born males all beleive that are naturally gifted to drive cars fast, shoot well, and fornicate like a world champion.
