Just bought 6 pounds of IMR4064. What are some of your best loads with Sierra 168 and 175 bullets O.A.L,Brass,Primers,etc.

42.8 grains for the 168 pills... With 2.805 for OAL and just large primers using federal or winchester brass. A tad less powder with Lapua.
175. 41.7 grains.

I'm using 42.8 for the 178 amax's. Check out the reloading section, my ocw and load work up are summarized in a thread.

Great powder for 308. I also use 42.8gr for 168 & 175 SMK in used Fed brass with Fed 210 or 210M primers. OAL 2.80. Initially tested loads from 41.5gr through 44.5gr and 42.8 was definitely the sweet spot. 168gr chronoed at 2650 fps out of 22" DTA barrel. Have reloaded the brass 6 times, so far without any pressure signs and 1/3rd to 1/2 MOA, when I do my part!

2.8" OAL
Win Brass
Federal 210m

2725 fps from GAP 308 with 24" Schneider barrel.

Factory Remington 24" Barrel
168 SMK / Federal Brass / Federal 210M Primer / 42.8 Grains / 2.815 OAL / 2,585 FPS

My version of a FGM 168 load.

Anywhere from 40-43.5grns gives me 1/2-3/4 in. groups, at 100, with the 168. Groups started to open up past 43.5. I can't figure it out, I had to really tweak my Varget loads, but my guns seem to like 4064. 2 5Rs. One is stock, factory, and ones got a better trigger .Fed brass and primers. They shoot a little better with Sierra MK HP's than the AMAX, too .Col 2.8-2.95, also not a big deal. Guess I got lucky.

41.7 g & 42.3g gives sub moa good groups out of a 24" 1:12 6 groove barrel @ 100m 41.7 is giving me just shy of 2700fps and 42.3 is giving 2750
I found that federal brass give more consistent results than Lap brass... bullets are Sierra 175g HPBT

This AM I just shot this at 1,000 yards and worked well.

Win brass
175 SMK
42.0 4064
CCI 200 primer

2650 FPS from a 24" barrel.

Thanks for all the great info. The rifle I'm working with right now is just a stock sps varmint .308 in a manners stock. Have seen people get some good results with factory barrel, just hope I am one of those guys.

I've found that 43.3grs of IMR 4064 with the 168gr SMKs is a great load.
A little on the hot side but no pressure signs in my LMT MWS 18" stainless.

43.0 gr 4064
OAL 2.800

Out of a Savage Model 10T.

Netted me a 3 shot sub 1/4" group @ 100 yds.

I run 42.8 over a 168gr SMK, and 41.8 over a 175gr SMK. Both are running CBC brass with Federal 201M primers. OAL is 2.800" It runs 3/4moa or better for me in a stock 700 police.

Here's a few pics of some loads worked up with 4064 & 175g SMK's. I found good results at 41.7 & 42.3g. As mentioned previously, it's running out of a 6 groove 1:12 24" barrel.

I went with 41.7 as the velocity I got off the crono I used was around 2690 fps. Easy going with no pressure signs.

the 20''' & 15''' pics are 41.7g with a jump of 20 thou and 15 thou

Sorry for the shitty pics
