Anyone using IMR 4064 in .223 with heavy bullets, specifically 75/77gr? I picked up 8lbs to use in .308 loads, but curious if anyone is getting good results out of .223/5.56 rifles.

The most I managed to tap/shake/jam into LC brass was 24.6gr with a 75 Amax, loaded to 2.491 oal.

It shot in the .3's with my Savage at 100-200yd using 23.8gr of powder, Wolf SRmag primers, and LC07 brass. Win brass was less crunch but the same load shot great.

It was slow though, only 2750fps.

I used it for a while for 75/77 grns and it produced great accuracy but not the speed I was looking for. I did like the fact that it was a compressed load. I don't have my notes in front of me but the charge I was using gave me slightly over 2700 FPS from an 18 inch barrel. I was getting ejector swipes and I left the brass on the ground. I have now switched to AA2520 and I still get the great accuracy but I'm getting the speed I want (2830 FPS) and lower pressure too. I wasn't too found of using a ball powder but in the 5.56 you are almost forced to if you want the bullet moving a little fast.

I have some more that I will dig for!

I know your looking at the 7ogr range bullets! I still have some info on those. The 60gr Vmax bullets out of my National Match AR 1-8 twist get me sub-moa at 100m.

I prefer the 80gr SMK for the AR.

will look to see if I can find the target and chrono info on my disk.
