...in an AR?

Tried some IMR4198 with some 60gr fodder at max load and it's not cycling the action in my AR. Is this too fast a powder for this application?

The only way I got IMR4198 to run in an AR is to load up to and slightly beyond the max charge. At that point it cycled and the empties dribbled out about 3 inches out of the ejection port.

Powder is too fast to operate the gas system. Not enough gas pressure to run the action.

Works fine in a Mini-14 and of course a bolt action.

Kind of depends on the bullet. With 50s & 55s it's my favorite powder.

Victor,

Are you getting those loads to work in an AR? I tried 20gr (max load) under a couple different 60gr and some 69gr SMK and am experiencing short stroking. My gun will eject the spent case but not pick up the next from the magazine.

Gonna try a slower powder if I can get out this weekend.
