At least 20 Indian Army soldiers killed in a face-off with Chinese troops
At least 20 Indian soldiers have died at Galwan Valley, in Ladakh, in a face-off between Indian and Chinese soldiers, according to government sources. Chinese forces also suffered casualties, ANI reports. It’s the first loss of life in at least 45 years and comes after weeks of tension between the two sides.

More details: No firing took place, so this means that our soldiers were beaten to death by the Chinese on Indian territory.

Lots of Pac Rim countries would benefit from China getting tangled up with India, Vietnam and the Philippines come to mind. Don’t be surprised if some third party instigating goes on.

Two parties disagree about the exact position of LAC. China has been taking the piss in the AO
by incrementally creeping in the border for years. India has finally started pushing roads and
strips into the area in the last couple of years, and China is getting pissy about it. China also
knows the US is strategically aligning ( at last...) with India, so no shots fired.

By controlling critical valleys, India denies China road access to certain areas. I’ve spent time
in that area, there’s a very limited window each year to do anything, in winter it’s terrible with
-50 celcius temps at night. Even in summer it’s subzero at night. We are in the middle of the
fighting season atm, whatever positions are held now remain until next summer. Id love to
see India assisted with a massive donation of mountain road building and construction
equipment, and all season constructions. Wouldn’t hurt us to have a few extra strips in the
area either.

I’m long out of the game, but I hope we are providing our allies with some decent live sat
intel at the very least. It’s near impossible to put an observer on every hill there due to terrain.

-Current argument is in western sector.
-Second pic is zoomed in, red area was occupied by China during ‘62 conflict.
-Third pic shows Galwan valley, just about the only way from Ladakh into the region now
Controlled by China.
-India need the road to Dalit Beg Oldi to supply the new strip and infrastructure there, so
China are attempting to cut off access. China are also probably nervous about India potentially
cutting off or retaking the Xinjiang - Tibet road which is strategically very important to them.

Both sides have agreed to fall back for now, for the second time in a month.

^ My first job over there was in 1990, then again during operation Vijay in 1999. You could say
things have been uncomfortable since separation in 1947. I have been suggesting this area is
an ideal strategic asset for 30 years. After running my head into a wall suggesting the US stop
funding Pakistan for a long time, things are finally turning....

Remember the brawl between Indian and Chinese troops.

Well it seems the story that was disseminated most was kinda stretching the truth a fair bit. It seems Indian claims on how they whoped Chinese were wildly exaggerated, and the official 20 Indian, 4Chinese KIA , seems to be much more probable than Indian claims of 55chinese killed. Not only did Chinese whoop Indian asses, they also captured whole bunch of them.

Some new photos of trully medieval-looking skirmish

Chinese with use of Riot shields seemed to be better equiped for the fight at hand. Indian troops only seem to have sticks and stones.
