figured i would post, had a shitty day the other day. i found out a good friend of mine and good operator got injured. Awesome guy with two small children. part of the job but sucks to hear, at least he gets to go home could've been worse.

Thats a bad deal. I'm sure it won't keep him down though. The SEALs are some tuff guys.

It sucks that he was injured but thank God that he was not injured worse or killed! Always look on the bright side of things.

i don't think there will be a full recovery for him since it took off his leg from the knee down.

Glad he made it Joe better a leg and the life he loved than his death. It seems bad now but he will make it and for his wife & kids I pray for them and that he make a full recovery.

Joe, full recovery has many variations. Look at the men who lost two legs and are running marathons and such. The spirit that dwells inside a warrior knows nothing less than full recovery, regardless of what happens to put them in the position.

I agree with Switchblade. Some of my buddies who have lost their legs are now running marathons. Others have almost bled out and died are right back in it, on their own free will. So a full recovery is in the eyes of the beholder.

There should be plenty of veterans up there and some groups. I'm not sure how your friend is going to take his ordeal but I might suggest that he link up with some veterans groups. First because his story is important. Its part of our history and it is also good for the soldier.

I met a double amputee at the Fischer house at Fort Sam Houston. I will never forget how excited these guys were to talk to fellow soldiers aobut their experiences. It helped that we all spoke the same language and had actualy chewed on some of the same dirt in Iraq. I don't think anybody in the place had a dry eye! It was a little uncomfortable at first not knowing wether these guys wanted to talk or not and how they would feel about being around soldiers who were not going through the same thing. The guy in the picture was probably the first to speak after we presented our donation to the Fischer House (it was a charity motorcycle ride in support of the Fischer House). I remember he said something to the extent of not to cry for him because he has a thumb throttle on his 4-wheeler!! How incredible is that? That kid is my hero!!
