I got lucky and was able to obtain a new CZ 455 set trigger assembly.
No, the CZ webstore doesn't have 'em in stock yet, like I said, I got lucky.
Installation took all of 10 minutes, most of that was disassembling the rifle
down to the receiver. Pulled the bolt, set the receiver on a leather pad
and tapped the fore and aft trigger pins out using a 3/32 drift and wood mallet.
Pulled the factory trigger out and caught the sear ball with my lap as it
rolled off the leather pad on my work bench.

The new set trigger fits in the old slot and the original pins
push right back in the old holes securing the set trigger in place
btw: CZ 455 SINGLE SET TRIGGER ASSEMBLY - will fit all CZ 455's with serial #A956497 or higher

After installation, a cup screw, just visible at the tip of the red arrow
is adjusted to snug the set trigger assembly to the pins and receiver.
Access to the screw is through the hole at the tip of the yellow arrow.

Now all I have to do is learn how to properly adjust a set trigger.

Great to hear this. need one for 455 22mag.
now come on Justin, hook a brother up were can i get lucky.LOL

This set trigger was installed in my CZ 455 Varmint, yoteman.
I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time. A benchrest shooter
wanted a Timney and pulled the set trigger. He allowed me to take over ownership.
Not difficult to figure out what does what in the set trigger. Only three screws to
adjust to make it function how you want.

internals-set-trigger.JPG

The cup screw which stabilizes the trigger assembly by applying pressure to the receiver.
The trigger adjustment screw which changes the tension for the standard trigger pull.
The sear adjustment screw which makes the set trigger pop. Really have to be careful
with that one and bump test it in multiple directions before loading a live round.
I don't know why the original owner wanted a Timney, the CZ set trigger function is scary sweet.

Dry firing shows no travel, no creep and a very crisp break using the standard pull.
Using the set function is just a surprise every time I touch the trigger.
Might need to adjust that back a bit so it's not so surprising!

Interesting quirk showed up.
The trigger won't cock if the bolt is cycled with the rifle in an inverted position.

I've got a 455 in seventeen...what a gopher KILLER! The trigger sucked from the Factory...Replaced it with a TIMNEY. Always surprises me how a good trigger can bring out the best accuracy in any rifle/pistol.

REALLY impressed by the 455's. I had wanted the set trigger option but in the late Spring, here in MT they were as unavailable as VARGET or RL-15 is now.

DO post your findings on this setup.

What can I say, ivan, I like to be thorough in my testing of a new toy.
Always like to know it's limitations before I use it in the real world.

Final adjustments have the standard pull set at 3.5 lbs, like the rest
of my hunting rifles and the set trigger now breaks at a hair over 11 ounces.
It could be set lighter, but I'm just not comfortable with the sear set any lower than that.
Much better trigger than the factory original in every way. All the 455's should be shipped with one.

The CZ set trigger is ideal for how I use the 455 Varmint.
Standard pull trigger set at a carry safe 3.5 lbs for hunting,
and a set trigger tweaked down low for range use and punching paper.

I agree. The factory trigger sucks. I Dont know why its standard in other models but not even an option on the 455.

I have the set trigger on order from my local FFL. They're incredibly cheap.

Where are they? It seems no one has any idea when they're coming in...

I agree, I bought the 455 Thumb hole varmint just to get the SST. Have since changed stocks and added a Lilja barrel and Sightron 36x scope. I have to get more trigger time, but so far I love it. I've noticed mine does not want to allow me set the safety in normal trigger position, but it works fine in set mode. I'm not to worried as this is strictly a bench gun and the bolt is open if I'm not ready to fire. Better than a safety in my opinion, but I will investigate further in case someone else is allowed to use this weapon.

Ooops, another thing to watch for.
conf45.gif

The 455 set trigger is engineered to fit an un-modified CZ stock.
Today while shifting the action from barrel to barrel and stock to stock
I ran into a couple of clearance problems with a pillared rear action screw.
If the pillar has too much epoxy build up or the pillar is too large a diameter
some work will be required to allow the trigger tail to move properly
and to clear the pillar when using the set trigger function.

Easy enough to sand off some epoxy,
but it took some filing to cut down the side of the bronze pillar.
If needed it is possible to file a small amount off the bottom back of the trigger tail
without affecting safety or function of the trigger.

Here's the set trigger in it's normal position

and here when it's in the set trigger position

That's quarter inch graph paper in the background for reference.
That distance between the tail of the trigger and rear action screw gets tight.
Have to maintain clearance or the set trigger won't function.

Range test follow up on the CZ 455 set trigger...2 hours of shooting
swapping barrels/calibers 22lr. 17 hmr and 22wmr on the 455 Varmint.
The set trigger does exactly what you want a trigger to do. It can be
used as a carry safe hunting trigger or a "breathe on it wrong, it'll go off" bench trigger.
That sear adjustment screw can make the trigger so sensitive that just making contact
with the trigger, in set mode, will make the rifle fire. I took it back up a quarter turn
so that you do have to squeeze to fire, not just touch.
If you're going to get a CZ 455, make sure it has the set trigger.
More than worth the CZ price of 60 dollars.

Nope, not the same. I liked the 453 set trigger but the 455 sst I feel is better.
After 2 plus hours of use, firing 17 hmr, 22 wmr and 22lr, I'm going to order another
for installation on my other 455. Really like how the set trigger mode functions.

Looks like there will be no more CZ 455 set triggers available here in the US.
Appears that CZ-USA is recalling all the CZ 455's with the set trigger.
Probably due to a liability issue caused by putting a fully adjustable sear
in the hands of a shooting public. No way to keep an ignorant tyro from
adjusting the sear to where it's unsafe. That's how you get bump/slam fires.
Most folks don't understand that bump testing must be done from all sides/angles of the action, not just the rear.

That really sucks.

I've had a deposit on one for quite a while. That's a major dissapointment. The 455 is a great rifle otherwise. I was really counting on that modification. I have a yo Dave kit on the way for a temporary upgrade. Looks that will be it....

Thanks for the heads up

I've noticed mine does not want to allow me set the safety in normal trigger position, but it works fine in set mode.

Called CZ-USA, the rep says there is a recall, they're contacting all the 455 sst buyers.
The problem with the safety is the issue. In standard trigger use if the pull tension is adjusted too low
then the rifle will fire when the safety is flipped off. CZ will replace the sst with the with the original style CZ 455 trigger
and they're offering several 5 or 10 round poly mags as an incentive to get this recall completed.
