Gunsmithing Installing a Seekins DBM in B&C stock

I want to install a Seekins DBM in a B&C aluminum bedded stock.

My rifle is Remington 700

Is the Seekins DBM a drop-in?

If not can I do it myself? Is it hard to do?

I don't have access to a mill.

What is a ballpark price a Smith would charge?

I see the average price for install is $130-200. It all depends who you pick. If you got, or know someone with a mill and knows how to use it, it can be done. I have seen DIY installs and they can range from "meh, it'll do" to a soup sandwich. Doing it by hand/dremel takes a lot of skill and will leave you with a bit of clean-up. If you know fiberglass work, and have that experience, then give it a whirl. I have seen guys do miracles with a good drill press, or you can ruin your stock. Work within your limits.

Chewing through the fiberglass is fairly easy - albeit a bit messy - with a rotary hand tool. Digging into the aluminum bedding block is a lot more difficult. Make sure that you have a selection of coarse burrs for your tool. You will also need a way to ensure the correct height of the DBM in the stock.

I wouldn't say that this cannot be done without a mill, but have reasonable expectations as to the appearance of the end product.

I think I'll just buy it and see what I can do. I have Tupperware stock that came on the Rifle. I think I'll see how I do on that stock first.
