Just wanted to introduce myself to the board. I am graduate of the 1stMarDiv Sniper school. Did some security contracting after my illustrious Marine Corps career. Live in East Texas, actually have not shot a whole lot in the past year. Mostly been shooting on the AR platform and defensive handgun type stuff. Anyway, have lurked on here from time to time. Im getting the itch to build a rifle. I mean I actually want to build it. Gather the various components and assemble myself. Just think it would be a cool project and somthing I basically have no knowledge of but an appreciation for the time that goes into a well crafted long gun. My Google Fu isnt the best but I have done some searching on the board here but have found just scattered info. Could any of you maybe point me to some useful sites to help me get started? Thanks, look forward to hearing from all you.

Re: Intro/RFI

thanks mark. i have links to my rifle builds in my signature. i am new to rifle builds and self taught (well, this and a couple forums have helped out greatly) so don't take what i have posted as gospel. wmroscoe has also had some great threads on his methods of rifle building. i'd do a search for threads started by him in the gunsmithing forum here.

good luck with it and don't be discouraged by the naysayers. the most negative thing i will say that the machinery and tooling adds up quick but once you have it, you have it. if you have the funds and room for the equipment, go for it. it is great satisfaction doing something like this.
