Sorry not trying to sound like an ass... it just will help you out alot in the future. Typically speaking there is a crowd of cutting edge shooters in here that have all the new shit and have T&E's out before stuff is even released.

Its a pretty good community. I read more than I post.

Re: IOR 12-52x56 Terminator

I'd love to see some reviews or mini-reviews as well.

What are the guys that bought these using them for? What setups are they going on?

I assume its the non-competitive folks who like to shoot ultra-long-range?

Re: IOR 12-52x56 Terminator

I have one that I purchased through Scott. It currently resides on a 338 Norma until the 375 Cheytac it was purchased for is finished (Feb '12). I have only had it out once to the range to sight it in and get a general feel of the scope. Here are the things that stand out:

The optics are first rate. I own or have owned every major brand, and this scope gives up nothing to any of them. Incredibly clear with an "alive" image, with great resolution. From 12 to about 40/42 the optical quality remains consistent and falls off ever so slightly from there.

I think the SPF reticle for why it was designed works well and makes sense. It is an MOA scope and again that makes sense since the adjustments are finer than 1/10 mil. All my other scope are Mil based. IOR worked out the reticle/ranging formulas and provided detents at 2 different magnification settings, where for ranging purposes the reticle is mil or in moa, which is pretty trick.

Turrets are typical IOR in terms of feel and function.

40 mm tube is just huge, no way around it, kinda like having a spotting scope on your rifle.

It is an expensive specialty scope, but for what it does it really is pretty impressive. Again, take it for what its worth and only 2 hours spent with it. I would buy it again and wish I could say that about other things I have bought.......

David (or anyone else who has used one)

So what situations made you say 'wow, I am glad I am using this over (something else)....'

Is it the ability to go further on the magnification? And if so what kind of shooting are you doing that you find the extra magnification is beneficial? Or are you just glad because the IOR has better optical clarity than whatever else you previously used?

Re: IOR 12-52x56 Terminator

I bought mine to shoot out to 2000 yds more or less.

The "wow" is the optic's clarity and contrast, it is excellent. I own IOR, Premier, Hensoldt and Nightforce currently, and have shot a friends Schmidt a good bit. This scope hangs with any of them optically. As to extra magnification, I generally shot long range previously to about 1000 yds and 15-20X was more than sufficient. But in building a .375, and looking to double that range, the extra magnification certainly can't hurt, especially in clearly seeing your target. If you want to dial back you have that option.

Bottom line, it is a well thought out and executed scope. It will get a lot more work in a couple of months.

Re: IOR 12-52x56 Terminator

I really like mine, waiting for number 3...greedy much ???

Will be going on my new 375s when they are finished.

I really hate waiting for stuff.

I have used one on my 260 & 416B great glass, reticle, dials & features.

Quite big & bulky, certainly won't be everyones cup of tea
