I have my IOR 3.5-18X50 mounted on a DPMS SASS. Using IOR medium rings directly to the upper. My 100yd zero (using center dot) with 175gr SMK going ~2480fps leaves me with 7Mils of elevation adjustment left.

Can anyone else with a similar set up comment on how much elevation they have left after mounting?

So is there problem here? If you are on a zero cant base or rail I think you are about right where you should be. You won't get to 1,000 yards without using hold over unless you cant the base about 20MOA leaving you a few mils of room.

Well I didn't think much of it until others said it did not sound right. It came up asking for advice on a canted riser, or one piece mount. According to my data 20moa riser might get me close to what I need for 1,000 (~12.8 mil). Would like to be able to dial for 1,200 (I know I am pushing it). I think this is a fairly common set up, and wondering what others with this combination ended up with.

Re: IOR 3.5-18X50 Elevation left after mounting.

i mounted a 3.5-18 x 44 on a rockriver 223 varmint with a flat top reciever using ior medium rings and was only left with about 8 moa so i had to purchase a weaver picatinny adapter with 20 moa and after i rezeroed i now have over 30 moa wich will get me farther than i will need with 223.

check into the weaver picatinny adapter its a nice well made piece and should get you a bit farther out there and solve your problem.

You didn't lose 13 mils.

When the scope is mechanically centered, you would have 10 up and 10 down.

You now have 7 up which means you lost 3 mils somewhere.

Right that is what I meant.

Re: IOR 3.5-18X50 Elevation left after mounting.

My 3-18x42 had 8.9mils in high rings. Now has 15 in 20MOA mount.

With a 200 yard zero on a 16"...

I would think that either the scope isn't mounted properly or there is something wrong with the scope itself.

Have seen crooked barrels that point downwards too

Hopefully you get it sorted out.

To rule out mounting as an issue I measured from the bottom of the erector housing to the rail at all 4 corners and they were all with in .002" and that is probably my error. The rings also measure perfectly parallel to each other.

I guess I need to reconfirm my zero before anything else, but I am almost positive it is right.

Re: IOR 3.5-18X50 Elevation left after mounting.

I verified my zero today and it was correct. Only 7 mils of elevation left. I mounted it on another AR (5.56) and after zeroing it only had ~6 mils left. So I guess I will be calling IOR to see what they say.

Edit: sending it back to Val again.
