Rifle Scopes IOR illumination

Looking into scopes and have been reading about the IOR's all night and they have become contenders in my scope search.. I'm looking at these two models

My question is on illumination. Does the whole reticle illuminate or does only the dot in the middle?

The link to the 3-18x42 model isn't the illuminated version.

I bought the illuminated version last year with the MP8-X1 reticle. The illumination only lights up the dot in the middle. I don't know why they did it that way.
