Rifle Scopes IOR Valdada 1-10x26 ELiminator DFP scope review

Overal view:

35mm rings with 1,25" height (I think):

Scope controls. Magnification ring has a "cat tail" from the factory. The same "cat tail" merged with 'second zero' is on elevation knob.

'second zero' ring on elevation knob., digital illumination controls and parra lax control :

Eyepiece with +-3 diopter

When magnification is on 10x cat tail on magnification ring blocks bolt (Bill's bolt knob installed)

Clicks are good. Markings is also visible. Elevation knob has zeros top.

Distance to house is 320 meters. 10x

Distance to this sun-lit building 450 meters

All pics thru the scope on 1x were done when WD-40 bottle was positioned right in front of gun:

SFP dot is 0.25mil in size on 10x (2.5mil on 1x)

Comparison of thru-the-scope pics on 10x:

Day, bright sunlight, building is 450 meters away:

Same building, sun just vanished (8.20 pm)

On the range:

I've zeroed scope today on the range. Weather was snowing with flying snowflakes and clouds. I could see my hits on 100meters to zero the scope.
On 10x FFP reticle is rather thick. An eye positioning is a bit tricky.

Central dot is .25mil - so shooting groups is possible but not as easy as with SFP night fore NP-R1.

On 1x picture looks like "thru the 26mm pencil view" but it's not as bad as guys were mentioning it. On 1.25x "look thru the tube" goes away

Illumination is not a win but not a complete miss. It's not aim point bright. And while central dot only illumination is brighter than FFP tree or FFP + SFP illumination at the same time today I couldn't see it when i was shooting from the dark room to the target on the white snow background. But on photos dot can be seen on sunny day - so I need to look further into this.

Meanwhile reticle design allow to shoot on 1x without illumination at all.

The main plus of this scope is parallax control - it's works!

and I can say this is the feature I know I missed on 2.5-10 nightforce compact.

Clicks are good - beefy an audible. Turrets a comfortable to use, but they could be made smaller to save weight. 

Due the compact scope size the 1 kg of weight feels lighter than my 3.5-15x56 nightforce. I was concerned the weight will be an issue but it's "workable"

So overally I liked the scope. It's. And the price is reasonable (compared to other 1-10, 1-8 offerings on the market) The main question on which I don't have answer - why 35mm tube?

Thanks for the write up! I love my 3.5-18 and think the 1-10 would be the PERFECT SPR optic. I noticed the comment on the ball of your bolt handle hitting the power ring lever. Mine hits when at full power as well.... but I'll trade for the reticle and optic clarity of the IOR.

Sold this scope for new fashion Leupold

Overal conclusion for Valdada Eliminator:
0. Great glass. Parallax adjustment is the best option on this scope.
1. Dot illumintaion is not visible at the bright sun
2. however black dot is visible and "pickable" by the eye (though close target transition a bit slow)
3. Very HEAVY
4. could be used as single scope for all if placed on bolt-action rifle.

Would i buy it again? if it'll be lighter - YES. if it won't be lighter - NO.

That's a shame about the weight issue...
The idea is great, hopefully they will continue to develop it down the road.
I would still be more than happy to own one though.

In my humble opinion, I think it would be really interesting if they moved the crosshairs to the second focal plane, leaving only the hash marks in the first. Could even leave a couple broken and spaced mil segments removed from the crosshair for ranging on lower mag settings. Maybe something like that could translate into using thinner ffp hashes.
I don't know, maybe its impossible, but DFP scopes have always intrigued me. There seem to be so many possibilities.

Question for you... I believe I remember reading other's issues with this scope where the the SFP dot does not remain center in relation to the rest of the reticle throughout the mag range... Was this an issue for you as well? I wasn't sure if it was resolved or just part of the nature of its design (not effecting any changes in poa/poi).

Edit: what was your feeling about having a cattail on the elevation turret? Position adjustable?

1. Center SFP dot is really a bit off-set. But it wasn't an issue at all.
2. Cat tail on elevetion turret is a fashion trick - you don't use it but you're happy it's there.
3. Cat tail on the magnification ring - i filed it down because it blocked the bolt handle at 10x.

The cat tail on the elevation isn't really a cat tail. You zero your scope, set the knob to zero, then set the cat tail to a secondary zero. Works for suppressed/ unsuppressed, or just a second distance you frequently shoot.
