Anyone have any idea as to why my Iron Ridge 308 will not cycle? I bought the rifle new and it came with magpul magazines.
After every shot, I need to recharge the rifle because it will not cycle a new round....

Anyone have any idea what would be causing this problem?

Re: Iron Ridge won't cycle?

Is the gas tube lined up properly? What type of Ammo are your using? Does the BCG move at all? What exactly is happening?

Re: Iron Ridge won't cycle?

I'm using Federal Gold Medal 168gr ammo...I believe the gas tube is lined up properly. When the rifle is fired, it will eject the round, howerver it's not picking up the new round and chambering it.

Re: Iron Ridge won't cycle?

When I bought the rifle the shop had a few dpms mags... I was going to buy them, but they wouldn't fit in the rifle... So far magpul mags are the only mags that fit in this rifle

Re: Iron Ridge won't cycle?

Lube the bajesus out of the BCG. I recently had a 260 (in an Iron Ridge lower, strangely) do the same. Lube the hell out of the BCG and try again.

When you think you have too much lube, put on a little more.

Re: Iron Ridge won't cycle?

I don't know at all, so don't take this the wrong way, but does this weapon have an adjustable gas system? If so it may be turned off, or not open 100%.

Re: Iron Ridge won't cycle?

Load a magazine with one round, charge the weapon and fire.

Does the bolt lock back?

If it does then the magazine could be at issue, if it doesn't lock back then the problem may lie with the gas system or buffer.

It it won't lock back, start with the gas key screws on the carrier group.

Are they tight, you shouldn't be able to move the gas key at all.

look at the gas tube in the upper, does it have the traditional 'mushroom' end to seal with the gas key?

Then the gas block, tight, not moving, any blow by of gas?

It's odd that DPMS mags won't fit, they fit fine in my IRA lower.

Re: Iron Ridge won't cycle?

I just finished my IRA build, and first time out with it I had to play with the adjustable gas system to get it to cycle. I have a JP Gas block on mine and it has a small adjustable hex screw that can go in and out to unjust the gas flow. You may try opening up your gas screw a bit, but I'm not sure what gas system IRA uses if you buy their complete rifle.

Re: Iron Ridge won't cycle?

Is the rifle cerakoted? This will bring the spec's out of tolerance and make for a tight ride for the carrier. Lube the hell out of it. I had mine cerakoted over the anodize and it does make things sticky for a while as it wears to fit.
