Is an 8 twist too slow for 140 grain bullets?

I am planning on building a 6.5x47 for shooting out to 1200+ yards. I ordered a Bartlien 8 twist 27" M24 barrel from Bugholes. It should be here tomorrow. My buddies are saying that I should have ordered a 8.5 twist if I want to shoot 140 VLDs and AMAXs. Did I mess up and should I send the barrel back (if they will take it) and get an 8.5 twist or sell it and buy another barrel?

Its probably going to cause air bursts, terrible accuracy, and be down right dangerous. Just kidding, but I think 8 twist is the gold standard for the 6.5mm heavies. I've taken amaxs/bergers to nearly 3000fps and have had no issues. I've also ran them very slow and it did really great.

I have 6.5x47's in both 1:8.5 and 1:8 twists and they both shoot 123's and 130's equally as well as the other. I just received and will be playing with the 136 Scenars possibly tomorrow since it will be a high of 70 and sunny, couldn't ask for a better day off!

I'll keep you posted.
