Is Campi Flagrei about to cook off?

Would I be an insensitive prick if I pulled for an eruption that would out do Krakatoa's in the 1800's?
I'm pulling for Mt. St. Helens to repeat her 1980 hissy fit. Fill the atmosphere with enough dust to cool planet down and give the global warming/climate change crowd a fit.
My vote is for Shasta. It's in california.

Signed,

A warshington resident.

Getting interesting near Naples.

Campei Flagrei make’s Vesuvius look like a party favor.

Meh… southern Europe can fend for itself

Sirhr
Geez, what did southern Europe do to you? I have in-laws in south Italy. Super nice people who are a hard working group.

This has been on people's minds for a couple years. They have some evacuation plans in place and are monitoring the volcano to give some warning.

don't wish such on anyone but if it happens the response is obvious. the NGOs and deep state will pour in millions of funds we don't have. of course after passing the $s thru their pockets. it's done all the time and in Europe? big $s in corrupted relief. we all know that foreign relief efforts are more important than w.coast FL,NC or Maui.

Or homeless Americans because of Joe, or homeless, PTSD vets, or funding Medicare, or balancing the budget, or..................

Lived in Naples (Pozzuli, literally the center of Flagrei, on the end of the solfatara of the rim of the super volcano) for almost 3 years.

That thing burps daily, ground swells daily, active sulfur vents all over the town.

If that thing goes, southern EU/Northern Africa is fucked initially, then rest of Europe from ash.

That culture knowingly built on top of that place. I got little empathy.

No more than me wanting to know where to lite the ring of fire along the west coast.

They say when she blew it was 330db, that is LOUD. They also said the shock wave encircled this rock three times? Wondering how they measured all that in the 1800's?

Campi Flagre falls under the category of Supervolcano. No 'cone' it is a huge caldera-type.

I also remember reading that it is 'capped' by limestone from Vesuvius. Which is really famous because it is this limestone that is used to make the super-hard, super-enduring Roman Concrete that has lasted 2,000 years! Whenever it gets wet, it re-seals itself. So if there is a "Cap" made of what is, in essence, super hard Roman Concrete... then pressure may build up to the point that when it does blow it's gonna be like a pressure cooker going boom.

IIRC also, it is believed that Campi Flagre may have been the final nail in the coffin of the Neantrathal in Europe. Not sure if they have proved that, but it is a good theory.

Goldilocks centuries are great until the bears come home!

And all this during a solar maximum... Supposedly a coincidence. But I don't like coincidences.

An article ini Nature linked solar activity with increased plate teuctonics and vulcaniism. But the USGS or NOAA or someone wrote an article refuting it.

I wonder if their article 'refuting it' was designed to point to everything being because of climate change... not solar periods and similar effects that you can't fix by raising taxes and screaming "How Dare You."

That said, 'supposedly' the number of quakes and volcano's is right in line with 'normal numbers.' I guess that the 'normal numbers' are more interesting when they happen in Southern Europe than, say, The Philippinies or some other third world craphole.

Be interesting to do a deep dive on the statistics on this.

And despite the exhortations that 'all is well' with solar events whacking our upper Van Allen belts or whatever they are... I am not so sure!

This was interesting reading last night: https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/sites/default/files/images/u33/finalBoulderPresentation042611 (1).pdf

i watched that nova episode a few years ago, and it is very interesting for sure. they are going to be fucked if that goes off.

Interesting read but they left a lot out, to their credit though they were only focusing in the electrical transmission side. Pipe lines can have major issues, and they did not go into what transformer core saturation will do to the primary voltage at the end users location. As they have no way to clamp it. There will be many, many fires from such unless quality protection is installed redundantly,...

Well, that's sort of my concern. But other say 'nothing to see here, move along.'

So there we go!

We'll either sit in the dark eating food cooked over an open fire. Or, we won't!?

Most will, but there will be many who won't do to preps and ability, to circumvent box thinking & repairs. Ability will trump inked paper & solid so called P-metal. If it ever happens, not many calories in either of the latter, and at that point it'll be hard to shed either for same.

Being pro vs reactive is always the winning move,...

For a long time actual science has known that solar activity affects this tiny globe in its space. The problem with any government funded “science” organization is obvious.
