I need to move the scope on my .338LM farther forward. I need to know if there is a formula that says how much MOA to adjust the scope if I move it a certain distance forward. If anybody can help be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The rail is the sako mount for the TRG-42 so it would be 30MOA.

The question is I have my scope zeroed on my rifle. However I'd like to move it farther forward as I have to turkey neck my head to get a good image. So I was wondering if I move the scope forward say 1", how would I calculate the adjustment on the scope to get back to my 100yd zero.

There answer is that there is no formula, because the zero should not shift.

In practice, taking the scope off and putting it back on should create probably a maximum shift of about a quarter MOA - but the magnitude and direction of the shift is completely unpredictable.

Move the scope. Rezero.

Beat me to it. It's just a similar triangle, if there's a serious zero shift, there's a problem.

Attributed, possibly erroneously, to Yogi Berra:

"In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is."

(This has also been attributed to computer scientist Jan L. A. van de Snepscheut and physicist Albert Einstein.)
