Is there a worse mag than the plastic Remington?

I have owned a couple Remington 541-X rifles. These are the repeaters sold through the CMP. They were supplied with one 5 shot plastic / Zytel mag. I have purchased a couple Remington 10 shot plastic / Zytel mags and they still suck.

I am on the fence to do a steel mag conversion. Any suggestions for a donor magazine for conversion? I know Remington made a steel mag with a similar profile but never had one in my hands to compare. After you work the trigger over, add some weight and slick up the action they are good rifles.

If you're talking about the ones that look like this:

Then I don't know what's messing up for you guys, mine work fine.

The mag lips / spring does not hold the rounds well on the 10 shot mags. The last round (or two) usually nose down on feeding. They "work" barely but suck big time. The 5 shot mags are also hard to pull out if the guy (barely stick out) but feed OK.

Yes. Magazine for UltraLite Arms 22 is worse. A shame, because they make one hell of a rifle.
