The Bell and Carlson Medalist Light Tactical Rifle Stock.

I did some searches and see some people say no its not a drop in and then i see people say it is. This is my first type replacing a full stock, so I am learning as I go. Will this stock be a direct drop in for my new Rem 700 AAC (308 Bull Barrel)? Will I need to do anything else to it (Bedding, sanding, ect...) or is it as simple as just dropping in barrel/action and tightening it all up?

I really like the B&C one because I only have about $270 to spend total on it (still broke from the rifle, scope rings, scope base, and scope), but want a nice quality stock to learn this rifle on. Any other one I should look at that will be better for a drop-in stock?

Thanks

You should be just fine with that stock as a drop in...

Yes, it'll drop in but I'd bed it at some point.

It is definitely a drop in fit. A friend has the same stock on a 700SPS AAC-SD and it shoots pretty well withoutany bedding at all. I have an SPS Tactical with the same stock, but the heavier version and it shoots great without bedding.
That being said, bedding can only help, and it's cheap.

Thanks guys... Is bedding something most gunsmiths can do? What would that commonly cost?

Re: Is this stock a Drop In Fit for my AAC 700

Just about any gunsmith will do a bedding job, but I'm not sure about the average cost. If you have a good smith locally, that would be the way to go. Otherwise shipping the rifle both ways + the cost of the work can get expensive.
That being said, bedding a stock is not really difficult and is something you could do yourself if you wanted to. Here's a thread that can walk you through it:

The B&C stocks already have a bedding block and pillars installed, so you can skip those steps. You are really just "skim bedding" it to get 100% contact between the reciever and the stock. You will just need some masking tape, a release agent, and some Devcon (bedding compound)

Qtips and WD-40 are recommended for clean up. For less than $20, you can get everything you need to do the job.
That's the way I would go.
