I just inflamed a holy war over at vwvortex.com LOL

I bought an S2 scirocco with the intent to turn it around and asked for people's comments on the difference between the S1 and S2, since I own both.

Wow.

Got my popcorn out and am just sitting watching for the most part, every once in a while I throw a little gasoline on the fire LOL

I just read the thread over there. I was unaware that there was such a thing as a VW enthusiast, let alone a site dedicated to them. Funny stuff watching them get all riled up.

I love VWs, both water and air cooled, and the only upside to the s1 is you could find them with 1600cc carbed engines, which is perfect for building into a production racer. They all have the same h2o VW issues, alternator/brush pack, fan switch, and weeping radiators.

Actually my S1 has a 91 Jetta engine in it, still an 8v but with the electronic fuel injection, TT exhaust, MSD ignition, K&N, she's got a bit more torque than factory.
Lowered 1.5" with Eibach springs, Neuspeed sway bars and working on the Neuspeed upper strut braces.

Right now I gotta get the S2 sold off, fixed her and got her running and I'm back to school...

I always like the Thing. A friend in Hawaii has one set up like a WWII Nazi Staff Car. Hawaii has so many Bugs with horsepoere that makes V8's tremble it's sick...matter of fact a few 289ci conversions are running around too
