Any one know how long the throat is on JPs Grendel chamber? Any where close to being able to touch the lands from a AR mag? My guess is probably not. But thought I would check.

The reason I am asking is, I am planning my first ground up precision build. Was thinking 6mm Grendel, having a reamer cut the way I want it, and have a Smith spin me up a barrel.
A JP 6.5 barrel would be the easy button.

I never took measurements but I've loaded for my bros JP Grendel quite a bit. I never hit lands with 123 Amax, 123 ELD or 107 TMK at max mag length of 2.3".

What mag are you using that allows loading to 2.3” for an AR? I’m pushing to get much past 2.285 in ASC or AA mags.

Your right, my ASC Grendels only allow 2.29" at best, even though my 223 ASC mags allow 2.31". Thats what I get for posting before measuring. Either way, I never hit lands.

To the original question:
123 SST: 2.337
123 Amax: 2.35
123 Scenar: 2.33
129 ABLR: 2.448
120 BT: 2.337
123 CC: 2.31
123 Sierra: 2.385
120 Sierra spitzer: 2.300
You’ll only get within spitting distance of lands with most accommodating mags out there, which to date-for me, are ASC’s.

Awesome, exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks.
