Note any penalties: Clipped corner of 7 aiming for 11, and clipped 19 aiming for 10. Almost made 3,8,9. Just missed the 10pt on stage 4. Need to work on getting a good steady stance while on the ground. Also need to get a better scope. Haven't had my rifle long, but I'm looking forward to improving/getting bigger guns.

I shot the Kimber 82G for the first time today, and it may be the most fun rifle that I own. Even with the stock aperture sights it was insanely accurate. Not as much in the positions, but off the bench with elbows and a sling I was hitting a 10" gong at 100 yards about 80% of the time.

i was doing the 25 yd and got confident both at the regular and support side, so am now doing the 50 yd 4p as that extra 25 yds reveals that there is more work to be done. hopefully i can get more consistant at 50 then do the support side at 50.

definately dropping the muzzle when squeezing the trigger.

What's the ruling on a slam fire? On stage 3 the rifle fired two shots with a single pull of the trigger for a total of 6 shots fired at stage 3. It happened on the second shot at the target (the one to the right of the circle plus the shot with the question mark). I took it as a mulligan and didn't count it as part of the 5 shots but let me know how you'd like it scored.

Re: JULY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

IMHO,

Since the shot just outside the scoring ring on the right was your second shot, it was a clearly a miss. The next "slam fire" did not create the miss on the prior shot, but I do not think you should be penalized for an extra shot for gun malfunction. If you feel your second shot just prior to the slam fire was indeed a miss then;

I would score stage 3 4 in for +40 and 1 out for -10
stage 3 net score 30 points total match score 230/250.

Great shooting no matter how you look at it or score it.

Agreed, the shot to the right of the circle was me being sloppy on what I thought was an "easy stage" not a malfunction of the gun. I'll score stage 3 as AR suggested for a total score of 230/250. The remainder of the afternoon was spent shooting 5 shots groups so that flyer doesn't happen again.

Re: JULY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

This was my first time doing this. So i tried it at 25 yards. Next time I will definitely do 50 yards. I normally shoot bench and prone with bipod, but I really have been wanting to expand my skills and I think this is going to be a great start.

July had two new shooters to the rimfire comps, a big hello to 3TERNITY and STORK23RAZ. A big congrats to everyone that placed in the top spot in their respective classes.

Here we are heading into August, the unofficial last month of summer. Where does the time go? Enjoy the dog days, we'll be raking leaves before we know it!
