Ive always shot the 300 WM 190 gr bergers, no complaints except short barrel life and marginal BC's. Im curious if theres a 7mm that will shoot flatter and hit harder at 1000 yards using the 180 VLD's and have slightly better barrel life. Let me know what your running.

190 30 CAL VLD=.570
180 7mm VLD= .659

WOW

however, when i plug them in my calculator:
300 WM: 190 vld at 3040 FPS (my load) 1000 yards=24.5 MOA, 1073 FPE, 1594 FPS
7 rem mag 180 VLD at 2900 FPS 1000 yards=25.9 MOA, 1073 FPE,1640 FPS

I though the 7mm would be a lot flatter, am i missing something?

Just for grins look at the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner, also known as the 7mm STW.

Im running 300 WM with the 230 Hybrid Bergers around 2850. I havent seen a 7mm bullet with the BC of the 230 Hybrid, though I love my 7mag.

7mm is a great round the bc is great and has good energy

Love the 7LRM! With a 28" barrel it will push a 180 @ 3150fps. No belt, 30 degree shoulder and a very long neck. With 180's loaded long, there is still alot of room in the standard AI 300wm mag. If or when the 195's are available. You would still be able to mag feed them, loaded with the bearing surface up and out the doughnut area. Mag fed pointed 195 hybrids @ 3000fps would be a nice long range setup!

So what I understand gunworks provides the match reamer? Where do you get brass from. Those velocities are amazing, how's barrel life?

Gunwerks has the reamer, brass, bushing dies and go gauges available. It's to early for me to give a number as far as barrel life goes. I feel barrel life will be better than the 7rm. It likes H1000 which is a plus when considering barrel life. You could back it down to 3000-3050fps with a 28" barrel using 180's to bring the pressure down and still have a serious performer. It only holds slightly more powder than a 7rm but is more efficient by design. I'm thinking of necking the 7LRM case to .308 to shoot the 230 hybrid target's. The 300wm holds slightly more powder but I think the efficiency of this case would even things up a bit. You could load the 230 hybrid target's long with a 30LRM and still be able to feed them from a std AI 300wm mag.

Is the dope just a ballistic calculated dope or is it verified? You may find it to be quite different than the program says.

I think that 7lrm is as much performance as you can fit in a standard AI mag.

I have a .300 win mag with a 700 trued action and a 30" broughton 5c 1:10 with a thruster break in an AICS. Bushnell XRS optic on a 20 moa badger ordnance rail.
It's throated specifically for the 230 bergers. I was trying the 230 hybrid targets but Coal was too long to mag feed. Enter the 230 OTM. I'm pushing it at 3.615 COAL (AICS mag fed ) at 2900 fps with Norma brass. I've whacked deer out to 660 yards this year and several in the 450 yard range. All DRT.
So, given the atmospheric conditions, the 230 will shoot 1820 yards supersonic at around 21 mils to get there.
I built it to replace my .338 lapua because of one reason ....BUDGET
The energy isn't quite the same, but out to 1500 yards, my load and a 300 smk at 2770 are neck and neck.

I had my bottom metal switched out for a 338 CIP so I can run 338 CIP mags.

Looks like you were a bit smarter than me as I bought a 28" bull it weighs a frickin TON! BTW is that an American Precision Arms brake? I have a Fat Bastard on mine.

Badger Thruster... I think they renamed it and I'm not sure what it is.
