Got the new Premier 1.1-8x24 from CS Tactical today. UPS dropped off late in the afternoon so there wasn't enough time to take this out to the range yet. First observations was the typical clear glass we all expect from Premier and the great field of view at the lowest magnification. The locking turrets function great with a slight pull away from the body of the scope. The clicks seem better than the 5-25 scopes as they aren't as hard to stop in .1 mil increments. The illumination works great and has a pretty neat feature where the red dot appears at under 3x mag. Would love to see a comparison of this scope against the new S&B and Leupold.

Re: Just got the new 1.1-8 Premier.

Ill try to take a side shot later today or tomorrow. I also plan to take it out to the range for a quick zero. Im not sure how well that will do as a full blown range report compared with what some others do here, but I'll post some initial insights.

Re: Just got the new 1.1-8 Premier.

Well I mounted the scope on my LMT MPR this last Thursday and took it to the range today. The scope has a pretty unique design where the erector body sits a bit further forward than some other designs. This requires the use of an extended eye relief mount. I chose the Larue LT-139 which worked fine. The ocular sits right above the charging handle. The eye relief proved to be pretty forgiving and I was comfortable on the rifle, both eyes open with the stock adjusted in a few different positions. The scope truly has a fabulous field of view. The 1.1 magnification on the low end works almost exactly like a "red dot" but you feel as if you can "live in the glass" as the FOV is pretty impressive. One nice feature is that the daylight visible red dot comes on with daylight visibility at any magnification below 3x (as long as the lighting is turned on at a setting 4 or higher). I do wish that there was an option to leave the dot on at higher magnifications. At magnifications from 3-8 the red dot disappears and the reticle is lit, but only visible in low light conditions. The function of the lighting knob is nice. The lighting knob has a similar pull out locking mechanism and has an "off" function between every lighting setting. The clarity of the class is pretty much in line with other Premier's. A friend of mine was shooting next to me with his 1-4 Vortex PST. The glass on the Premier was obviously better, but thats an "apples and oranges" comparison. I didnt bring any other optics to the range for comparison. The reticle is nice for a scope with this function. it should be easy to use for holdover shooting. As with all Premier's the scope was easy to zero with the flip lever knobs. The locking function works well. A quick, easy pull up and the knobs can be adjusted. A push down and they are locked in place. The clicks on this scope are an improvement over those on the Premier 5-25 scopes. For me, the knobs dont encounter as much resistance so they are easier to stop at each 1/10 mil increment. Scope was able to return to zero after adding varying amounts of elevation. The magnification ring seems larger than what is on the 5-25x scopes but was easy to grab and adjust. Overall a great scope and a solid competitor in the new 8x magnifcation FFP market.

Re: Just got the new 1.1-8 Premier.

There's nothing wrong with it, but the erector being so far forward looks kinda funky... but hey, if it works, that's the main thing

Got any more of these coming in any time soon? </div></div>

We had a batch come in and go out. We have 25 of them on order, we have 15 of them sold. This is a limited edition run of these 1.1-8x's by Premier. At this time, we're not taking new pre-orders. We'll post updates as soon as there is an update to post...

Thanks,

Mason @ CST

Re: Just got the new 1.1-8 Premier.

When I emailed CS about this, they responded by saying that Premier is working on a True 1x model 1-8, and that they were only making a few of the 1.1-8 models.

The proportions on this scope are hilarious! The elevation turret is almost twice the size of the objective lense.

Nice scope, enjoy it.
