Very true. However, the Geneva Convention and Rules of War afford the same rights to all combatants regardless of being a Mercenary or not. But we all know how that will work out with Russia, who is already targeting Civilian's.

The Geneva Conventions declare that mercenaries are not recognized as legitimate combatants and do not have to be granted the same legal protections as captured service personnel of a regular army.

We blasted millions of Vietnamese off the face of the planet--but they wanted to win and in the end they just waited for us to leave. If you know what you are in for--go for it. This is a certain amount of backing up your keyboard bravado (and we got a LOT of keyboard commandos around here) be it stupid or no.

South Africa if I am correct treats mercenaries as criminals so the guys that went and fought in Sierra Leone with Executive Outcomes can't go back to South Africa or they would be imprisoned. Its more of a civil war than anything. Retarded peer fight using the same equipment using similar tactics. I will give the ukraininan people credit, they are putting up a much better fight than I thought they would. It takes brass balls to fire a jav or nlaw at an armor column knowing any competent tanker is going to sending you love right back. Russia either miscalculated greatly or has some other plan in store.
What is clear, is the US military would have destroyed the entire Russian western military in about a week. They are still 3rd rate soldiers using 2nd rate equipment and tactics that are not proven. US spent last 20 years learning how to get real good at killing people with minimal risk to itself. Imagine what a few squadrons of F35's a few battalions of Abrams and MLRS could have done...........
