I just snagged one of the SB 3-20 ultra shorts from EuroOptic on sale for $2799. I have a GDI PROM model L at home, but at 1.5" rise it's a bit higher than I need for a 50mm scope on a rifle without a AR style handguard. I think I'm looking for a saddle style mount still, and the SPUHR SP-4001 has a height of 1.18". I would love to stay precision QD but 1.5" seems to be the going height. Any other suggestions? Pics of your ultra short setup?

My friend has a 3-20 US monted in a Spuhr SP-4001 on a Tikka T3 Varmint bolted to a KRG W3 chassis.
Its quite a setup. I dont have any pictures of it online at this time.

Mount must be sufficiently opulent as to match the optic.

^^^ the best answer.

With the caveat that the I like the military replicas... The Geiselle black mounts are being used with the new CSASS Army rifle, so that is an option. The next best is what you like. I might go for Spuhr or LaRue LT104, the latter being well fitted with 0 cant for an AR.

I had an ERA-TAC on my 5-20 Ultra Short and then I switched to an ARC M10 QD-L which just barely fit the 5-20 and would easily fit the larger mounting area of the US 3-20. I love ARC mounts because they are simple, reliable and are the easiest to align your reticle without the torque of the screws rotating the scope when tightening.

Was your ultrashort the illuminated version, and the ARC M10 still fit?

Thanks.

Yes, it was illuminated. The back of the mount would be a hair away from touching the illumination tumor and the front of the mount would just touch the beginning of the front bell of the Ultra Short, I thought I had a picture but couldn't find it, it is an extremely close fit, but it does fit without damaging the scope. Again, this was with the 5-20 Ultra Short and the 3-20 Ultra Short has more room than the 5-20 so the ARC would work on the 3-20 without such tolerances.

I'm going with Burris XTR Extreme rings, with the polymer inserts. I like the idea of polymer compressed against the tube, as opposed to metal on metal. I also like the added cant.

Just ordered the same scope in pantone from Euro Optics moving sale. I'm going to go with the Spuhr QDP-4602 for a 6mil elevation tilt on my Scar 17. These won't require lapping the rings and have the best contact surface to the scope tube.
