Curiosity got the better of me and I bought this optic & mount. Seller had no idea what it was about other than it's marked "K.31". I disassembled the mount and there are multiple Swiss cross stamps on the pieces so I'm sure this was done by the Swiss military, probably in the early 1950s.

The optic itself was made by Wild Heerbrugg and was originally for their Raketenrohr 50, an 83mm bazooka of sorts. It's 1X zoom.

Windage is adjusted by an eccentric up front with a Belleville washer and locking nut to lock everything down. Elevation is done with the notched wheel on the bottom that has a ball detent for clicks.

The optic slides into a dovetail of impressive fit. Eye relief and cheek weld are not optimal. The tin dovetailed on the side contains a small electric circuit and a lamp for illuminating the reticle. I don't know what battery was supposed to go in there but shining a flashlight into the side of the optic illuminates things nicely.

If anyone knows anything about this or especially if they can find any documentation I'd love to see/hear about it. Info for the Rak rohr is scarce, info for the optic is non-existent, info for it on the K31 is worse.

I have used the Sightron 3-9x40 on the K31 with good results. Some use the older Weaver Scopes the K4 or K6 which work out well also.
