I have an all matching numbers (not X outed) 1940 K98 that the value was ruined by the previous owner when he drilled the received and added a one piece mount. So now that the rifle has no real value I want to get it threaded so that I can shoot it suppressed for no other reason that I think it would be cool.

Does anyone know a smith that can do that and will do that? I first contacted LRI, but they said the thread walls would not hold up using SiCo 15x1 RH. I'm guessing it will have to be a 14mmx1 like an AK thread, but I am not sure.

Could run a smaller thread, solder on an internally threaded cylinder of appropriate size, then re-indicate and cut threads on that of whatever size you want. My grandfather had that done with a few of his hunting rifles (.550-.620" muzzle dia.) to use a suppressor.
