does anyone know how many different mounts were attached to the barrel of issue zf41 rifles. I see one with a flat outside and one with a groove. are they both correct?

I’m not clicking that link? Your post is weird but if you’re actually seeking K98 advice, I would recommend: https://www.k98kforum.com/

Someone here may know their way around the nuances with a K98, but it’s unlikely they’re anywhere near the knowledge base on the actual k98 forums. They literally write books on the rifle.

Link goes to a thread he started in the Bolt Action section where someone suggested he cross post it to vintage. Only goes to a different part of the Hide.

Yes, they're both correct. Earlier rifles utilized the "flat roller" mount and later production rifles used the "beveled roller" mount with the groove and more rounded edges. This was merely a design improvement over the original flat mount; the Wehrmacht's assorted scope mounts went through multiple design variations/improvements over the course of the war.

https://www.wwiigermansniper.com/zf-41 Plenty of info and pics re: the ZF-41, and more pages and a [production timeline for all the official scope mounts used by the Wehrmacht.
