Went shooting today using a LMT CQB that came with a target crown but Heavy Buffers just put a brake on. I've only fired some crappy fodder through it holding off waiting on my USO to fire some match ammo. Im using KAC 200-600 (NSN) back up iron sights and have been impressed with their utility. I always thought back up sights were meant to be something only accurate to center of man but these are much more than that.
Today curiosity got to me and I decided to see what match ammo would do through my rifle. I fired 25 rounds of 55 grain Winchester practice ammo which tracked high left (6 oclock hold) so before shooting the 77 grain ammo I decided to try to hold a line of white and adjusted my windage a hair. I had no spotter so I loaded my match 77 grainers and fired my 20 rounds, figuring I'd let the group reveal how everything was doing.
I was pretty happy with this
This is fine but what Im finding about my eyes is that if I wear my distance glasses I can see my target well enough but my front sight post is fuzzy and not wearing my glasses I see my sights great but my target is nonexistent.
Ive improved my pistol shooting by ditching my glasses. On the pistol range I lose the glasses, see my sights great, and there is enough target visible at handgun distance to make a group. But at rifle range without glasses I can see my sights better than with glasses on but the aiming black becomes a smudge at best.
I talked about this with my optometrist last time but despite her being very nice she is not getting what Im looking for. My prescription is great for daily activities, its a low one, when not at work I don't wear glasses, but for marksmanship I need something else.
