Kalispel Case Line discontinued, training center opened

By Don Gronning | Of The Miner

CUSICK The Kalispel Case Line, a line of aluminum protective cases, has been discontinued, according to Terry Knapton, senior business advisor for the Kalispel Tribe. In the place where the cases were manufactured, a vocational training center will be housed. There will be an open house at the new facility at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 9. The Kalispel Case Line manufactured a variety of cases, such as gun and camera cases, since 1974.

I Can't link to the page because the newspaper requires a subscription to view storries on line but it was published in the Newport miner on nov 3 2010

Re: Kalispell case

One thing that is bugging me is I sure see alot of their cases at Cabellas , they even seem to have a new style Kalispell case that is armored on the corners and OD green or Desert tan.

I have to wonder if they might have moved to a bigger facility?

Re: Kalispell case

I will see if i can find any thing else out but i believe that the above article is accurate. Kalispel Caselne is/was a business operated by the Kalispel Tribe of Indians in north east Washington. It is a very small tribe the reservation is about 8.5 miles long and only exceeds 1.25 miles in width in the one place that it crosses the river were it is about 2 miles wide and this is for less than a mile. The reservation is very sparsly poulated i doubt there are even 250 people living on the reservation but i cannot find any data to support that. They built a casino a few years ago in Airway Heights (a suburb of Spokane, WA). They have changed there focus from were it was ten years ago before the casino when Caseline was there biggest money maker now it is a very small part of there income. They are now working on environmental and quality of life quality projects in Pend Oreille county. There have been rumors that Case line was going to go away for the last 6 or 7 years and i have no reason to believe from what i have heard that they intend to continue it. However i will ask some people i know that will have better information than i do and see what i find out.

Edit: acording to wikapedia there were about 340 indians in Pend Oreille county counted in the 2000 census.

Re: Kalispell case

I talked to a friend of mine that works at the local sporting goods store this afternoon and he told me that they Kalispel Caseline sold there tooling and all there products late this summer or early fall he couldn't rember exacly when. So if you want one of there Cases better get it now because when there gone that will be the end of them.
