How durable are loaded rifle rounds, in terms of just being put in a bag/box after loading? By "durable" I mean remain that they shoot consistently.

I've always put my rifle rounds in ammo boxes, as I figured I spend enough time making them that they should get some special treatment. But I've been doing a huge run of 223 ammo for my service rifle and I'm out boxes. That got my wondering whether I can just put them into a container loose without affecting my shots?

Are you going to store them in the bag or plastic shoebox, or tote them to the range that way? I have several immitation Tupperware containers that seal tightly and use them for storage. Matter of fact, I will carry ammo to the range in the tupperware. I just don't bang it around.

No I was just planning on storing them at home in a box or something, so the banging around should be minimal. And now that I think about, they probably get violenced more when my AR cycles anyways...

Surplus military ammo cans can be had cheap! They were created for this exact purpose!

If you're looking to store loose rounds, the 50 cal ammo cans are hard to beat. $10/can stores a lot of loose rounds in a 50 cal can. For $15/can, you can store even more in a SAW can.

As far as my reloaded match rounds, I do tend to treat those a bit better and use the Federal plastic ammo carriers (10 rounds ea) and put them in MidwayUSA CB-09 or CB-10 boxes. I can store 260 rounds packed in boxes in a 50 Cal can and have enough room for a hydroabsorbent desiccant pack for long term storage.
