For those of you that find yourself at a match, or hunting season, or whatever the occasion when you have both a pistol and a rifle, how do you keep the rifle from bumping into the pistol when you have the rifle slung on your shoulder?

My problem is that I always carry IWB/OWB strong side around 3 O'clock and every step the butt of the rifle clunks the grip of the pistol. I've considered a drop leg... but thats a little too tactical for me, so I am trying to think about other solutions first.

Bungee sling with rifle across chest. I don't shoot matches yet but do it hunting. It is actually pretty comfortable. Otherwise I have always just sling the rifle farther back towards the middle of my back or wore a shoulder holster. I'm probably going to have this problem this year as well since I'm loving the smith m69 44 I just picked up. I might be trying cross draw this year.

Do what I did. Lose the ability to comfortably shoot a medium to large caliber pistol with your right hand, switch to the left, and continue to shoot rifle from the right side. It baffles the crap out of 'em.

chest rig for the pistol, i carry a marlin 1895 in 44 magnum slung and a Ruger superblackhawk in 44 in a chest rig. with a back pack, no issues.
