Rifle Scopes Ken Farrell Rings?

Re: Ken Farrell Rings?

Farrell Rinks are GREAT . I run a couple of matched-sets with there G-force Bases . Design & finish are stellar .
I run Seekins too & they are GREAT with my favorite being the 6x4 Rings . Design & finish are stellar .

Really hard to say which would be better Ring-set . Farrell & Seekins , they just look different from each other in style & design thought . you cant go wrong with ether one .

Re: Ken Farrell Rings?

Ken Farrell is my go-to-guy for rings and bases He is a stand up guy, available and easy to talk to on the phone.

The only "gripes" about his product:

His bases are very thick, which means an application that would normally (with anyone elses base) require "high" rings, will only need mediums.

His bases aren't a full pic-rail. They only have a couple grooves on the ends. I'm not sure this is actually an issue, but merely an observation. I guess it was an "issue" on my Savage because I wasn't able to find a groove to mount my USO bubble level.

His current 34mm offering is just too damn tall. On even a thin scope base on an M40-contour barrel, his 34mm rings would eaily clear a 70mm objective lens.

The black oxide coating he uses has little/none corrosion resistance. Not an issue if you intend to paint/coat them.

Great reply!

I haven't tried yet, but after talking to Ken a couple times, I am 99% certain he'd be happy to cut you a custom height ring if you supplied him the magic number you need. I don't even think he'd charge extra.

You know, I've my buddy has TPS rings and Farrell base on his Savage. He runs a Leupold MK 4. The TPS have been great. They're a bargain, honestly.

To achieve lowest scope mounting possible on that rifle, he ended up with low or medium TPS rings. A "gripe" with those rings (which over the course of years have been great), is there isn't much "meat" between the main bore in the ring, and the cut for the picatinny clamp to engage into. It just "looks" weak. But, how strong does it need to be?
