Kestrel and NOMAD/Coldbore

Before moving to the Phone version of Coldbore I ran it on a Trimble JUNO, and of course it reads the Kestrel feed (4500 series only) and GPS data. It's much better than FFS because you don't need to "teach" the software what units the data coming from the Kestrel are. The software automatically decodes the data even changing the data units in the Kestrel in real time! Having said this, bear in mind I didn't use it much because the pairing is a battery killer and you don't really it that much. Take a hard look to the Phone version too. It's super fast and does GPS and targets too.

Is there a different version for a Trimble type unit than a phone type unit? I thought both used Coldbore Mobile version?

I already run the desktop version of Coldbore. I am now going to use a Trimble that I bought used to run the mobile version in the field. i will use the sync function to keep them both aligned.

The mobile version is what I believe you need for the Trimble. Am I wrong?

I suggest you check out Patagonia's site. There are currently 3 versions. Mobile is for PDA only.
