Got a kestrel sportsman from a while back.

Never really used it to much.

Hurricane ida is pounding us so I got it outside taking some readings. These are the fastest 20mph winds ive ever seen.

Is there a way to calibrate the wind speeds or do I need to change a setting?

Try popping the impeller out, cleaning around it, calibrate the compass with the impeller out, then pop it back in. https://kestrelinstruments.com/mwdownloads/download/link/id/233/

Assuming you're in weather mode, scroll to Wind Spd (up or down), then left or right if you want to see Min/Avg/Max point the back of the unit towards the wind, keeping it as level as possible for a minimum 3 seconds, better off 5 seconds. That'll give you the 3 second average, min, and gusts.

If the readings still seem off, impeller might need replacement. You can't calibrate those.

Edit: I should tag @Kestrel Ballistics while I'm at it.

Edit: Should also link to the ballistic calculator section of the forum. https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/forums/range-report-exterior-ballistics/ You may be able to find some more info there.
