My daughter is 6 and loves to shoot her .22 cricket but its killing me to watch her. She is right handed and shoots left eye. She lays her little head across her stock to use the other eye. I have tried to get her to stop but she has to much of her mohter in her to listen to me. So Im thinking of getting a red dot scope so she can shoot both eyes open. I thought it would make is easier and even more fun for her. Just put the dot on it and pull the trigger?!?! So with out getting JUNK and not braking the bank where is a good place to start? Lets say 100$ ish for her scope budget.

Re: kids red dot scope

My 7 year old son does exactly the same as your daughter. I went with a cheap Tasco that is made specifically for a 3/8" rail. The rail on the Crickett is pretty high to start with and having to add an adaptor to use anything weaver was just out of the question. Even after installing the red dot, my son struggles with the eye situation. With both eyes open he is still leaning across the rifle to look through the scope. Using an eye patch or shooting left handed he is actually a pretty good shot. Being right handed and left eye dominant is tough, especially for a kid. This summer will determine if he will shoot lefty for good. Good luck with your daughter.

Something we do to trap shooters who are right hand/left eye dominant is put a piece of tape or a sticker over the left lens of their shooting glasses. Then if they want to use two eyes, the right eye will naturally take over. I read somewhere that most femals are cross eye dominant, so that's not uncommon with your daughter. Good luck, cant hurt to give it a try.
